Classic Mimosa Recipe
Are you team mimosa or team Bloody Mary? While both brunch cocktails are delightful, there is nothing quite as festive and celebratory as a mimosa. Not to mention, mimosas are incredibly easy to make, requiring only two ingredients. Registered dietitian and recipe developer Jaime Shelbert brings us this recipe for a classic mimosa. "Mimosas are the quintessential brunch drink but they also make for a festive party drink for baby and wedding showers," Shelbert says of the classic cocktail.
To make a classic mimosa, all you need is champagne and orange juice, but you can have a lot of fun with developing new mimosa recipe twists by substituting other juices or adding garnishes to your mimosa. Why not give it a try with pineapple or mango juice? Or, top it off with an orange peel for garnish, or maybe drizzle in some grenadine for extra sweetness. "With so many mimosa variations a mimosa bar is always a great idea for a party so guests can play mixologist and really have fun with their beverage," Shelbert notes.
Gather your ingredients for a classic mimosa
To make this classic mimosa, you will need champagne, orange juice, and optional orange slices and raspberries for garnish.
Portion out the champagne
To start, fill up your champagne glasses halfway with champagne, though you could also just use sparkling wine — we won't tell!
Top it with orange juice
Then, to make a classic mimosa, you will top each glass off with orange juice. If you want to change up this classic mimosa recipe a bit, you can substitute other types of juice for orange juice. Shelbert recommends "using different juices such as guava or passionfruit or opting for fruit purée's such as mango, strawberry or peach."
Garnish with orange slice and raspberry
Garnish each glass with an optional orange slice and raspberry for a little color. Shelbert says that you can get creative with the garnishes as well, suggesting "mint, basil or rosemary would all be pretty as a garnish and also add a hint of herby essence. Even bits of fruit in the drink make mimosas pretty — raspberries, blueberries and blackberries work well." Enjoy your elevated brunch with this easy and tasty recipe!
- 1 bottle champagne or sparkling wine
- 24 ounces orange juice

- Pour the champagne into eight champagne glasses, filling each halfway.
- Top off the glasses with the orange juice.
