Experience

Joel has over 15 years of professional writing experience in a variety of avenues. He's worked on copywriting projects for giant brands such as Google, as well as smaller companies like Ninja Kitchen Products. One of his very first paid writing jobs was submitting jokes for American Greetings cards, way back in 2007. Since then, he's worked as both a full-time staff member and as a freelance writer for outlets such as College Humor, Paste, Mental Floss, Heavy, and Uproxx, among others. Taking this experience, he joined Static Media full-time in 2021, leading the charge with long-form features on Mashed and is now the lead editor for the brand.

Joel has a B.A. in communication from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
